Our client (based close-in on Long Island in NY) is seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer or Packaging Manager with experience in Cosmetics Packaging to oversee their engineering department. In this role as Senior Engineer or Engineering Manager, you will have responsibility for all packaging and product technical designs. Long known for their development and sourcing of customized packaging for the cosmetics, skincare, personal care and beauty industries, they provide primary packaging services in an array of materials (especially injection molded plastics).

Because innovation and customization set them apart, this role is crucial to the success of the company and interacts with nearly every department (including sales, marketing, product development and operations). Working with the product development team, engineering works to identify new and alluring packaging and delivery systems to set apart a client’s product offering in the marketing place.

Responsibilities:

  • Create custom 3D modeling packaging solutions for clients to solve their unique aesthetic and functional objectives
  • Interface with customers and internal team members to develop packaging that addresses the concerns of the client and consumer
  • Evaluate and select packaging materials to meet cost, function and consumer usage objectives
  • Drive innovation by keeping abreast of new technologies in the marketplace and incorporating them into designs as appropriate
  • Perform costing analysis of materials and output variables
  • Conduct quality control testing of output
  • 1-2 weeks of travel to suppliers each year

    Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in package engineering (at least some in cosmetics, skincare, personal care or beauty desirable)
  • BS in Engineering (Packaging Engineering or Packaging Science preferred)
  • Working knowledge of SOLIDWORKS or AutoCAD 3D modeling software
