This position is primarily accountable for the results of the Beauty Department. Specialized subcategories include Natural and Organic, Vitamins, Supplements, Diet and Nutrition, Skin Care and Cosmetics that are differentiated from traditional HBC categories and require a dedicated team member to drive growth and development. A key success factor for this position are the incumbents ability to work cross-functionally and influence appropriate departments such as Store Operations, Visual Merchandising and Set-up.

Job Description:

  • Manages the item selection and merchandising of prestige category beauty products throughout multiple stores
  • Partners Center with various departments to achieve beauty & skin care sales and service goals
  • Partners with District Manager on in-store execution and builds plans to collectively drive incremental sales
  • Provides strategic guidance to the ongoing development of Beauty store programs to ensure continued sales growth and identify new sales opportunities
  • Manage a team of 4-5 staff

Position Summary:

Our client is seeking an experienced merchandising leader to grow its HBC business and as such is positioned for significant growth in the 5 years ahead. They need a passionate, high-energy, results oriented online merchandiser that can drive their beauty / skin care business to new levels with innovative approaches. The successful candidate will have a passion for the beauty and skin care category, the drive to flawlessly execute on strategic goals, and able to adapt to the ever-changing retail environment. Strong analytical skills and a demonstrated ability to use customer data in ground-breaking ways are a must. Excellent writing skills and a strong eye for detail required. He/she should be innovative, team oriented, and an effective communicator, as well as have a desire to participate in a fast-paced environment.

This role calls for an individual who can determine, then drive, any initiatives necessary to grow beauty and skin care sales, working in partnership with the enterprise merchandising, marketing, operations and technical teams. He/she must have the technical depth necessary to build trust with development teams, and the business depth to interface with client firm’s executives and build successful relationships with partners.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for developing the merchandising, assortment and promotional strategy to maximize sales and margin on assigned merchandise categories.
  • Partner with the retail merchandising team to identify and execute upon sales driving strategies, cross channel synergies and business development opportunities.
  • Responsible for online merchandising efforts, such as product categorization, cross sells, up sells and featured product selections.
  • Accountable for merchandise category performance and planning and maintain a merchandise plan/forecast based on sound analysis.
  • Maintain accurate and compelling product information.
  • Identify and implement appropriate SEO and affiliate strategies and drive category traffic and sales
  • Participate in refinement and evolution of the online shopping experience, specifically around merchandise presentation, promotional capabilities and conversion processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, Masters preferred
  • 5-10+ years of experience in retail buying or merchandising field with Cosmetics, Personal Care, Toiletries or Healthcare
  • Must be highly organized, detail oriented, enthusiastic, resourceful, willing to adapt to changing priorities and ability to meet timelines and deadlines.
  • Must possess excellent MS office skills, especially MS Excel
  • Possess advanced knowledge of merchandising, buying, product allocation, and retail sales analysis.
  • Proven skills in retail math and pricing strategies
  • Proficient in manipulating data including statistical analysis and advanced math calculations.
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills and attention to detail required.
  • Ability to operate independently and follow general guidelines.
